The science is in. Recovery from chronic pain is possible.
Do you live with chronic pain or other symptoms that don’t have a clear cause or solution? Have you tried everything to get relief, but with no long-lasting results? Do you have to plan your life around chronic pain?
I did.
As someone who lived with chronic pain for over 15 years, I understand how frustrating and exhausting it can be—not just physically, but emotionally and socially. I saw several doctors, tried injections, physical therapy, medications, herbal supplements, massage, chiropractic treatment, special diets (gluten-free for over 10 years, autoimmune paleo, low-FODMAP), special exercise programs, myofascial release, meditation, etc, etc, etc. Nothing helped for long.
So when I found Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), I was skeptical but willing to try just about anything by this point.
What I learned changed my life.
We are in the midst of a scientific paradigm shift on chronic pain. We have learned that most chronic pain isn’t related to something being wrong with the body, but rather by how the brain and nervous system communicate. This is called neural pathway pain or neuroplastic pain. In most cases of chronic pain, the brain is stuck in a protective pattern - sending pain signals even when there’s no physical injury (or the injury has long-since healed.) That doesn’t mean the pain isn’t real; it’s very real. It hurts, and it can be incapacitating. But we now know that it can be healed. PRT teaches us how to relate to those signals differently, helping the brain feel safe enough to turn the pain down.
PRT helped me recover my life, and it’s what inspired me to support others through this process. My approach is grounded, compassionate, and focused on creating a sense of safety as you reconnect with your body and begin to shift the pain at its source.
PRT might be right for you if:
You’ve been living with chronic pain for months or years without clear physical causes.
Your pain feels out of proportion to any injury or has no obvious source.
You’ve tried treatments like medication, physical therapy, or surgery with little lasting relief.
Your nervous system often feels on high alert, tense, or stuck in fight-or-flight mode.
You feel anxious or fearful about your pain and what it means for your future.
You want to understand the brain-body connection behind your pain.
You’re ready to try a gentle, brain-based approach to alleviate pain rather than just managing symptoms.
You’ve experienced trauma or overwhelming stress that seems connected to your pain.
You feel misunderstood or dismissed by healthcare providers.
You have chronic gastrointestinal issues in addition to chronic pain.
You’re frustrated and exhausted from the constant effort of managing your pain and trying to plan your life around the pain.
You’re open to learning new ways to relate to your body with more safety and compassion.
You’re tired of feeling stuck in the cycle of pain and ready to explore healing.
FAQ:
Are you saying this is just in my head?
Not at all. Chronic pain is very real. Mine was. Yours is. PRT is based on neuroscience that shows how the brain and nervous system can get stuck in a protective pattern—even when there’s no ongoing injury. That doesn’t make the pain imaginary; it just means there's a path to real, lasting change.
Do I have to stop seeing my doctor or taking medication?
No. PRT can complement medical care. You're always in charge of your treatment choices, and we’ll move at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.
What if I have a diagnosis, like fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, or migraines?
Many people with long-standing diagnoses have found relief through PRT. These conditions often involve pain that’s maintained by neural pathways—and PRT works directly with that.
What if I have medical imaging that shows something wrong, like a bulging disc or disc degeneration?
Our bodies experience some normal wear-and-tear with age, and for many people, this doesn’t cause chronic pain! Imaging studies show that, at age 40, 68% of people WITHOUT back pain have disc degeneration. 50% of people without back pain have a disc bulge at age 40. This wear-and-tear from living and aging is normal. Chronic pain isn’t.
What is the goal of PRT?
Unlike therapies designed to help you “manage” the pain, the ultimate goal of PRT is to provide long-lasting pain relief and to equip you with the tools you need to maintain a pain-free life.
Why work with me?
I’m a therapist with a deep belief in the body’s ability to heal—and I say that not just as a clinician, but as someone who’s been there. After living with chronic pain for over 15 years, discovering Pain Reprocessing Therapy was a turning point in my own journey.
Now, I help others shift out of fight-or-flight mode and into a more connected, grounded relationship with their body. I work with clients of all identities and backgrounds, and especially love supporting women and LGBTQ+ folks navigating pain, stress, and nervous system overwhelm.
My style is affirming and collaborative. I’ll meet you where you are, and together we’ll work toward lasting relief—not by pushing through pain, but by helping your brain feel safe enough to let it go.
